The WAPS Dance & Flex class is a specialist course designed for adults that teaches beautiful dance choreography whilst incorporating incredible tricks, technique and floor work of calisthenics, gymnastics and floor-based acrobatics.
Calisthenics is an artistic dance sport that combines dancing, gymnastics, ballet and apparatus work. The word calisthenics comes from the Greek words “kallos” for beauty and “thenos” for strength.
Discover how to safely perform calisthenics and gymnastic techniques as part of striking dance routines, giving you the chance to showcase flexibility, strength and balance, as well as dance technique. You will be amazed at what you can achieve with regular lessons and practise, and at creative and impressive ways that Dance & Flex techniques can be used to embellish dance choreography.
This is an open ability class – we encourage everyone to try it, regardless of your previous experience in dance or gymnastics. Your instructor will take you through technique and choreography at your own pace and students will work at their own level, monitored by staff, to ensure everyone can achieve their goals no matter what your level is!
What to Wear
Fitted top and bottoms preferred (sports top, leotard, tank top, ¾ or full length leggings or boy leg shorts). Bare feet or socks are fine. Bring a water bottle and sweat towel.
